Crafting New Sounds from Traditional Roots:

Msayi Breeze, a self-taught music producer and DJ from Durban—Busi Mhlongo’s hometown—forges a distinctive electronic sound influenced by artists like &ME, Da Capo, and Culoe De Song. Msayi has joined the M2KR 2024 REMIXES project to reimagine Busi Mhlongo’s track “Yaphel’imali Yami” from the acclaimed album “Urbanzulu.”

These songs by the late diva Busi Mhlongo, originally performed in the late ’90s on Msayi’s home turf and remixed in 2010 are now being revisited by a new generation of artists like Msayi Breeze to energise the atmosphere of music venues from international clubs to local shebeens.
