Doc Mthalane, in collaboration with Madala Kunene and Mabi Gabriel Thobejane, convened in Durban, South Africa, to plan a joint album. During the early '90s, amidst widespread violence in the townships stemming from factional disputes, Doc and Madala composed the poignant track Masihlanganeni "(Stop the Killings)" This period was marked by intense conflict between supporters of the African National Congress (ANC) and the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), culminating in the tragic deaths of at least 150 people on August 15, 1990. Recorded at Brownhill Farm Studios with Lungiswa Plaatjies on vocals and produced by Brice Wassy.

In a contemporary twist, Echo Deep has revisited "Masihlangeni (Stop the Killings)" with an Amapiano remix, featuring the vocals of Lungiswa Plaatjies. This new rendition sets a more relaxed tone, transforming the originally urgent message into a reflective, yet still poignant, musical experience.
