
On the 4th and 5th of May 2018 legendary Mozambican master timbila player and percussionist Matchume Zango and drummer Djibra Moussa joined hands with the Swiss bass player and violinist Matthias Abächerli and a young Zimbabwean guitarist, Frank Mavhimira based in South Africa entertained the crowds at HIFA In Harara. Matchume launched his album Wata M’Cande.

Cândido!Salomão!Zango, also!known as“Matchume, has dedicated himself to Mozambican
traditional music and dance since the age!of six. He is regarded as one of the new masters of the timbila. His parents and grandparents are originally from Zavala, Inhambane Province, which is the center of Mozambique’s Timbila tradition. Inspired by this long and passionate tradition of music and percussion, Matchume began to play, study!music and produce traditional instruments such as Mbira, Xitende and djembedrums.

Swiss born Violinist andBass!player Matthias Abächerli gained experience during his work with FOREST JAM in Madagascar, Mozambique and South!Africa. Together with!Robert Trunz(MELT2000)they put together 4 major tours with a crowd of musicians from Europe and Southern Africa.
