Mario Cee — Kronologik, MELT, Black Coffee & BADBOX
Mario Cee is a London-based DJ, producer and label owner whose long relationship with South African music places him firmly inside the wider MELT / M2KR orbit. Known today under his alias BADBOX, his story links London’s underground electronic culture, early Black Coffee releases, and the experimental edge of the MELT/ElectricMELT network.
Kronologik — Mario Cee’s London Label - In the late 1990s, Mario founded Kronologik, a London-based imprint created to release electronic and house productions. Kronologik (Mario) became part of the London–South Africa exchange, giving UK shelf space to emerging South African electronic artists.
It is within this environment that Mario developed one of his longest creative friendship, Black Coffee. Mario Cee and Black Coffee have been close collaborators and friends since the days of SHANA early 2000.

Kronologik became one of the first UK platforms to push Black Coffee’s early sound into the European scene — predating his global rise and long before his Grammy-winning era. Mario must be credited for his support of young South African producers is an essential part of the North–South exchange, open-ended collaboration, and a commitment to giving African artists a presence in the global market.
ElectricMELT / MELT 2000 Connection
Mario Cee appears in the MELT ecosystem through ElectricMELT, where his work sits among the label’s electronic releases and remixes. Mario remains a recognised part of the extended MELT2000/M2KR community.
Earth With II Suns (2001) Mario’s 2001 album Earth With II Suns was released under Electric M.E.L.T. (ELM 8029CD).
This marked his formal entry into the MELT universe. This release connected Mario to the MELT electronic lineage that included Greg Hunter, Juno Reactor collaborators, and the experimental branch of the South-European-African fusion scene.
Mario Cee → BADBOX (Present Day Career) Today Mario works globally under the name BADBOX — a DJ/producer with a growing catalogue of Afro-house, deep-tech and electronic releases.
Recent highlights (from RA, Electronic Groove) are Residencies and major bookings in Ibiza, Dubai, Spain, UK, and South-East Asia. Collaborations with vocalists, traditional artists from Greece and producers across Africa, Europe, and Latin America
BADBOX represents Mario’s modern electronic identity — sharper, more rhythmic, and tied into some of the cultural exchange that originally drew him into the MELT/ElectricMELT family.
