Osaze

Osaze

South African Nelson Mailula, better known on the dance floor as Osaze, is a Limpopo-born producer who believes every beat should tell a story. For Osaze, music is not just about sound — it is about the heartbeat of his home country South Africa.

Osaze’s journey started with a deep curiosity about how music is made, leading him to study Digital Composition and Sound Engineering at the Soul Candi Institute. This gave him the technical foundation to transform raw African rhythms into the polished, high-energy productions that have become his signature.
Osaze’s breakthrough came when he teamed up with the legendary Black Motion. Together they delivered “Ngoma,” a track that reminded audiences why the drum remains central to African culture. The collaboration continued as he contributed to the sound of their 2023 album Rebirth of the Drum.
Whether working in the studio with artists such as MÖRDA, Thakzin, Bucie, or Nadia Nakai, Osaze brings an energy that bridges traditional soul and modern electronic music. This was especially evident in his 2024 hit “Takala,” which not only won a Summer Award but also became a soundtrack for audiences across the country.
Further elevating his position as a sonic custodian, Osaze has been granted access to some of the legendary MELT 2000 back catalogue by joining the Electronica and Remix label M2KR MELT 2000 Revisited. This rare opportunity allows him to reinterpret the works of South African icons such as Busi Mhlongo, Moses Taiwa Molelekwa, and Madala Kunene. Through these reinterpretations, Osaze is not simply remixing recordings; he is documenting the evolution of South African sound and ensuring the revolutionary spirit of these artists continues to inspire new generations.
At his core, Osaze remains a student of the craft and a devoted lover of the groove.
