The Bringers of World Hop

The Story

Eyedentity is a musical collective originally spawned in 1997 by Krishna Booker, his wife Diana Purim – aka db – and the help of Rashid Duke. Based in L.A. Eyedentity released two albums on MELT 2000. On release of their debut album SEE in 1999, Flipside posted a review with a clear message as to where Eyedentity’s future lays “Krishna Booker’s imaginative production recalling the carefree experimentation of trip hop, but from a definite hip hop point of view. While so many artists struggle to mix world sounds with hip hop or drum’n’bass, Eyedentity seem to have a firm grip on the plot.”  The couple and their helper’s musical pedigrees are spiced with genes from their parents. Diana is the daughter of percussionist Airto Moreira and vocalist Flora Purim, her husband Krishna is the son of jazz bassist Walter Booker and Rashid’s father is the late George Duke.
