About Album

“ Ubuntu is an inborn thing with African race. The meaning of Ubuntu is very deep. Ubuntu means be honest, be accommadative, share with those in need, learn and pass on what good you know to the young, share it at all cost, respect young and old, criticise constructively, feed those who are hungry. Do we still have it – I wonder ! “
Sipho Gumede 1996

Ubuntu is considered Sipho’s most creative and spiritual work. Heavily influenced by his 3 weeks of collaboration and co-producing The Outernatioal Meltdown series in 1994 Sipho went on to record Ubuntu . This time with an international label, MELT2000 and without the usual low budget restrictions a typical South African label in those days allocated for local productions.
Sipho gathered a stellar group of who we consider today as the Legends of SA music like Busi Mhlongo, Mabi Gabriel Thobejane, Moses Taiwa Molelekwa, Tu Nokwe, Shaluza Max, Jetro Shasha, Dizu Plaatjies, Themba Mkhize or John Hassan.
