Two of South African’s legends got together in 2018 to record their first collaborative album at Robert Trunz’s home studio. Madala Kunene needs little introduction. The bandleader has collaborated with many local and international artists such as Brazilian percussionist Airto Moreira, Swiss guitarist Max Laesser, the late Durban born Syd Kitchen, UK remix and dance act Smith & Mighthy and SA’s house music icon Black Motion.
Themba Mokoena – electric guitarist was recently honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award. For decades Themba is known as backing artists having worked with SA ‘s greats such as Hugh Masekela, Sibongile Khumalo, Mpharanyana, Simphiwe Dana, Gibson Kente and others. He also mentored Ray Phiri and Jimmy Dludlu.
The album features 7 tracks with overdubs by Matthias Abaecherli on upright bass, Mabi Gabriel Thobejane on persussion, Paki Peloeole Kgosietsile on drums and percussion, Ali Faque on vocals, Lerato Lichaba on electric guitar. Producer and engineering by Matthias Abaecherli.
