MELT 2000 and it’s offshoot ELECTRIC M.E.L.T. remain as one of the most important record labels ever launched in South Africa.
Founded in the late-90’s by Swiss-born music producer and sound expert Robert Trunz, the MELT 2000 back catalogue features international Artist Collaborations, Remix Projects & Electronica Out Of Africa, Brazil, Cuba and Europe, with a strong emphasis on the post apartheid era of South Africa.

During its peak in the 90’s and early 2000 the label united a powerful array of talent, including the likes of Busi Mhlongo, Madala Kunene, Moses Taiwa Molelekwa, Lungiswa Plaatjies, Pops Mohamed, Amampondo, Mabi Thobejane, Brice Wassy, Airto Moreira, Flora Purim, Max Lasser and many other greats! Many of them have become legends of their time revered by generations of up and coming musicians and listeners.

Now, the M2KR team are proud to extend this legacy with a roll-out of remix projects, that honour the eternal excellence of both the artists and their original recordings.

Well-known and up-and-coming producers have been invited to revisit and reinterpret the catalogue, celebrating its timeless excellence and extending its relevance and appeal, for music lovers around the world today!
